Our fave tips for winding down

Our fave tips for winding down

Blossoms are budding, the daylight hours are longer, spring has sprung, and how nice is the warmth in the sun! So good. Reminds up that sunscreen, sand and BBQ's are on the horizon, bring it on!

We find the stresses and pressures can start to build. Even as the daylight hours are longer, there still never seems to be enough hours in the day! Prioritising time for taking care of yourself and allowing enough rest time is not always as easy as we'd like it to be but becomes more important, to avoid fatigue and burnout.

We've jotted a few simple things below that us Gathered Co. gals like to do, to care for self, manage stress and anxiety, and provide rest during these busy and unpredictable times. Take a look and pick up a wee tip that might be a good fit for you too!

Gigi - I love to listen to a playlist of fave songs or make a quick one! Whether it's an upbeat, sing out loud, shake it off type playlist to boost your mood or something more subdued and reflective to allow you a moment to stop and breathe, music makes everything better!

Kelly A - I have been really needing to practice what I am about to preach lately! I would say deep breathing techniques, taking time for myself outside in the sunshine, and controlling the things that I can control no matter how small, in these uncertain and limbo-like times.

Hayley - I try to head to the beach for a walk every morning. I find being out in nature and amongst the ocean air a great and calming way to start my day.

Tracey - My tips can vary depending on the weather! If it's a dull dreary day I might just snuggle up on the coach with a cup of tea in hand, heat pump cranking and watch a fun TV series (I know this sounds lame but I don't watch much TV at all so it is a treat). Or if it's a lovely day I take myself for a little walk along the beach and up Shakespear's Cliff to take in the beauty of the Mercury Bay followed by a cup of tea on my deck overlooking the ocean... always a cup of tea either way.

Kelly B - Straight after putting the kids to bed, I like to do Yoga with Adriene on You Tube. She has lots of free 30 day yoga challenges. Such a nice way to unwind after a busy day.

Ren - Making space for being still and quiet. With no one else around, sitting still thinking and doing nothing. Sometimes in the dark too! Drinking water - simple, but sometimes hard to remember to prioritise! Deep Breathing.

Early planning for Christmas also helps to reduce the pressure and stress of the busy summer season.

It could help you to start thinking about gifts ahead of time, popping a few thoughtful gifts away here and there from now. Early planning provides good space for more thoughtful, meaningful and conscious purchases too - win win for everyone - including our earth!

Take care and stay well through October, keep an eye out for all the cute animals being born and beautiful flowers blooming, such a heartwarming time of year!

Peace,
Renée xx
