Sarah from Blue Door Therapy

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Blue Door Therapy, the heart-led business of local mum and skin specialist, Sarah.

Sarah is a mum of three (plus a dog!), a fiancée, and the owner-operator of Blue Door Therapy here in Whitianga. Her mission is simple but powerful: to help you feel confident in the skin you’re in. At Blue Door Therapy, it’s not about trends, quick fixes, or masking imperfections, it’s about real results through simple, effective methods that respect and protect your skin barrier. Sarah believes less is best, focusing on healing and confidence over comparison and fads.

Her journey began three and a half years ago, after welcoming her third baby. Nearing the end of maternity leave, she decided she wanted to work from home, and with the support of her partner Blue Door Therapy was born. But the seed was planted much earlier, when she noticed a gap in Whitianga: plenty of therapists focusing on brows, lashes, and nails, but no one truly specializing in skin at its root cause. Sarah wanted to change that, offering long-term solutions with care and respect at the core.

"Because your skin tells a story & I want to help make it one you’re proud to show." - Sarah.

Her work is inspired by real people and their stories. Every client who walks through her door brings vulnerability and trust and Sarah has created a space that goes beyond skin, to connection and being seen. Even a typical day for her is a juggle of early mornings, school runs, client sessions, and family time, yet her passion for her work shines through every moment.

What she’s most proud of? Her client community. Sarah remembers the details that matter, shares laughs, and holds space for people to feel safe, supported, and never judged. That sense of connection is what she loves most about being part of a small business community.

Her personal reset often comes from time alone - a walk in nature, a gym session, or even dancing it out with tacky music (sometimes with a cheeky Marg on the side!). Over the past year, she’s embraced the realisation that she is her own inspiration, and encourages others to reflect on just how far they’ve come.

Recently, Sarah has been training in the Face Up™ Method, a unique treatment that blends fascia, breath, posture, nervous system work, and emotional release. She’s excited to launch this powerful new offering soon, helping clients reconnect with themselves on a deeper level.

Her work has already been recognised nationally, receiving a Social Media Presence Award and Runner-Up for Prologic’s Up & Coming Clinic earlier this year. As Sarah puts it, she’s not about being polished or perfect online, but about keeping it real, relatable, and sometimes a little silly, which is exactly what her clients love.
